Every Day is Like New Fallen Snow

I grew up in Georgia and we did not have much snow.

When I see fresh snow with no footprints, it makes me smile. Like a child.

It seems to spark some emotion in me that is hard to define.

I feel compelled to immediately stomp around and create my footprints in the snow.

Why is that?

Why does fresh snow awaken this in us? I can’t imagine it’s just me.

When I came to this bridge on my run today, the whole thing was covered in fresh fallen snow. I stopped. I smiled. I might have even giggled out loud.

I guess it was a good thing that no one was around to interrupt my moment with myself giggling. I got giddy that no one had crossed this bridge yet... and it was ME who was going to make footprints of my crossing.

I took very deliberate steps across the bridge looking both ways making sure no one would spoil this moment for me.

No one did. It was just me.

After I made my footsteps in the snow on the bridge, I looked back and I took this picture... then I continued on my run.

On the way back, I thought of how life is like this fresh fallen snow, and that each day is our white canvas to leave our mark on it.

We get to make our own footprints in our own life to create the pattern in our own magical way.

How awesome is that?

We often go through life reacting and attached to things which do not serve us, confused with all the commingled footprints and disconnected from what makes us giggle and laugh and not even being aware of the "fresh fallen snow with no footprints" moments in our life, which should make us stop, pause, reflect and smile.

What If we woke each morning and began to see our life like the new fallen snow? Where we get to choose the pattern, the number, the imprint that we and only we get to make on it.

Isn't that why we are here?

Every day is like new fallen snow.

You get to decide where, how, how often and in what way you start your day. You get to leave your mark on the world.

So make it count.

And maybe giggle a bit when you do it. Because life is also meant to bring us joy, love and sprinkles of magic!
