The Connection Between Self-Love and Wellness


We don’t often talk about self-love and wellness in the same breath. Why is that?

Why do we often focus more on the exterior signs of ‘healthy’ and ‘well’ while overlooking the check-engine lights going off inside our bodies?

Self love is, in my opinion, the root of establishing true health and wellness.

I want to get a little vulnerable with you today… I didn’t always love myself.

Oof. That is a hard thing to write, and admit to be honest.

I took the long journey, the rocky road, the winding path, so to speak, to learn to love me. With a lot of hard knocks along the way. And eventually, I needed to give myself permission to ask for the help I needed to learn this invaluable lesson. In short, I had to be taught.

Now, as a therapist and having spent a decade in the medical and mental health arena, I have become more and more rooted in the belief of how self love plays the largest role in creating the health and wellness we seek in life. It is, in my opinion, the single biggest factor in our pursuits to live a healthier and happier life. The “simple” act of learning to deepen our relationship with ourselves and learn to love us better.

This is the mission with Soul via Sole.

This is also why I am re-vamping my membership program to create a community of support to help us all learn how to do this job of loving ourselves better.

When we learn how to do this, our mental health will improve, our physical health will improve, our relationships will improve. Our quality of life and the joy and happiness we seek is on the other side of us learning how to be fully in love with ourselves, and not in an egocentric way, but in a gentle, kind and self compassionate way.

I have said it before, but I will say it again…

We are all works in progress and the work I think we need to focus on primarily is simply how to love ourselves better.

I hope you join me on this journey of discovery to the most important task we have in this lifetime, learning to truly love and honor and know to our bones, our worth.

The wellness we seek is on the other side of this road back to ourselves.
